Erica is a dedicated math, chemistry, and biology tutor who champions the benefits of one-on-one learning. Drawing from her own transformative experience with a math tutor from grade 8 to grade 12, she knows the profound impact a supportive tutor can have. Erica emphasizes building strong foundational skills, particularly in early algebra, to ensure long-term academic success. She aims to boost her students' confidence and foster a positive attitude toward learning, believing that personalized attention helps students excel in all subjects.
Goes above and beyond to ensure they get the help they need. Whether it's answering questions via email between sessions or staying a little longer to clarify tough concepts, I care about their success and want to see them excel in their courses!
A mix of inquiry based teaching with a focus on doing practice problems. I like to guide students through practice problems while asking them questions that encourage them to think critically about each step. I believe active problem-solving is the best way to learn, and by prompting students to explain their reasoning, I help ensure they understand the “why” rather than just memorizing procedures.
To focus less on grades and more on the learning process and understanding the material. Prioritizing the learning process over perfection builds skills that will benefit you far beyond high school. (My Grade 12 self would’ve rolled her eyes at this, but in the long run, learning how to learn matters much more than your top six high school average.)
Used to go to the University of British Columbia but transferred to the University of Toronto. Many people have asked me why on earth would I want to come to U of T.
